Kanti and Kimi are Algonquian American Indian twin sisters of the Shawnee tribe. Kanti means "Sings" and and Kimi means "Secret" They are generally dressed in traditional american indian clothes.

Kanti has a beautiful voice, and can play the drums and the flute. She is the most talented musician in the tribe, having been taught by her mother. She is the main singer and performer at all of the tribe's rituals, and teaches others so that they can join her. Her job is mainly a joyful one, because even in death, the tribe rejoices life.
Kimi, on the other hand, has a much more different job. While it can sometimes be entertaining, it is generally cumbersome and grueling. Her job in the tribe is to be the secret keeper, or the secret bearer. Everyone from the tribal leaders down to the children come to her with their secrets. Scandal, children's games, backstabbings, anything that can't get out goes straight to her. She is the most trustworthy person in town, but also the most dangerous. What she knows could tear the tribe apart very quickly.
She doesn't use that to her advantage, though, oftentimes not even sharing with Kanti. Not that Kanti asks, she knows the burden her sister carries, and the danger of carrying it herself. To ease her sisters discomforts, Kanti often sings to her sister, songs of peace and calm.
